Margaretta "Pixie" Louise (Urbanc) Hildebrand

Margaretta “Pixie” Louise Urbanc Hildebrand, age 67, of Indianapolis, passed away October 6, 2021. Born in Peoria, Illinois, she was the daughter of Joseph and Gladys Urbanc and youngest of 5 children. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods.  She also met her future husband while in college.  Pixie went on to teach religious education for the majority of her career at St. Matthew and St. Jude Catholic Churches. Pixie was a very active member of the St. Matthew community serving as the director of religious education, a Eucharistic minister, mass coordinator, and volunteer for countless community and fundraising events.

Pixie and her husband, Bill, moved to Indianapolis with their young son Chris when Bill accepted a job with Superior Oil. A few years later, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Andrea. Pixie enjoyed gardening and loved making plants thrive.  She enjoyed having dirt on her hands.  She also took great delight in being a mother and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her love of her family.

Pixie is survived by her daughter, Andrea Howard; son, Christopher (Jennifer) Hildebrand; and two grandchildren, Anaelise and Caitlyn Hildebrand; sister; Joanne Donahue; brothers David (Sherry) and Joseph (Ruth) Urbanc. She was preceded in death three weeks prior by her husband of 43 years, William Hildebrand. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Carol Mackoway.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Holy Family Church, 3720 N Sterling Ave., Peoria, IL 61615.  Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pixie's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Hospital .
