Maria Teresa Vargas de Escobar,

92, of Whitestown, passed away March 28, 2019. She was born in Chiquimula, Guatemala on January 1, 1927 to Victor Manuel Pineda and Luz DeJesus Vargas. Maria was a seamstress who loved to crochet. She created beautiful embroidery. Maria came to the United States over 30 years ago and lived in New York for many years. She retired to Guatemala, but then returned to the U.S. six years ago. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and will always be remembered for her love of family.

She is survived by her children, Victor (Gay) Escobar, Fernando (Michelle) Escobar, Irma (Michael) Callahan, and Maria Teresa Escobar; grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriel, Teresa, Silvia, Annita, Sarah, Tania, Gabriela, Mayte, Mariana, and Alex; as well as several great-granchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marta Castallanos; and brother, Enrique Paz. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Augusto Escobar; son, Carlos Escobar; and brother, Tomas.

Funeral services will be held at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Rd. on Sunday, March 31st at 12 noon. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Tetersburg Cemetery.
