Marlene Rose Tsareff,
73, of Indianapolis, passed away August 11, 2020. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Paul and Martha Kalbfleisch on June 9, 1947. Marlene graduated from St. Mary of The Woods College and then received a Master's Degree from Indiana State University. She was a wonderful singer and actress. She worked as a news reporter and anchor at a TV station in Terre Haute, IN. Later she entered the world of Public Relations and ultimately founded her own company, Marlene Rose and Associates. She did most of the PR for Sears Kenmore and Firestone Industrial Products. She was able to meet Jay Leno and got a skit for "Throwing out the energy hog appliances" with a catapult on the Tonight Show. She was a fantastic cook, a seamstress, a quilter, a gardener and a history buff.
In 1998 she went to the Vatican and sang for Pope John Paul II in a beatification ceremony for Saint Theodora Guerin in St. Peter’s Square.
Marlene was also an avid motorcycle rider and a National Park enthusiast. She visited 404 of the 419 National Park Units, most of them on her motorcycle.
Marlene loved to travel. She visited every state and, in her retirement, traveled to Guam, Carnes, Sidney, Melbourne, American Samoa, Lucerne, Amsterdam, Rome, Florence, Venice, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Paris, London, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, and Luxembourg.
Marlene had an amazing personality and ability to have fun and make people laugh. She could fit into any group. Her spirit will live on in her family and all of those she touched.
Marlene is survived by her husband of 25 years, James Tsareff; children, Geoff, Donna and David; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, her sister, Judy; and brother, Paul.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Marlene Rose (Kalbfleisch) Tsareff at Saint Monica Catholic Church Thursday, August 27th at 10:00 AM.
In order to minimize any potential Covid risks the following precautions will be taken: Everyone attending will be required to wear a mask. Everyone will be asked to social distance from those not in their immediate family household. St. Monica is a large church and the pews are blocked off and arranged to facilitate social distancing. There will be no visitation or reception line.
St. Monica Church will also livestream the Mass on Facebook.
