Mary Clay Alonso, 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020 at the Forum at the Crossing. She was born February 15, 1930 in Gary, Indiana to Maurice and Geraldean Clay. A 1947 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary, IN and a graduate of Purdue University Calumet with her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing as well as her Masters Degree as a nurse practitioner. Mary practiced nursing in Hobart for many years prior to her retirement, and also held a passion for gardening and spending time with family and grandchildren. She loved to travel the world with her husband, Joe, and was a devoted wife and mother. Mary and her husband spent their golden years as "snow birds" spending winters in Mesa, AZ where they made many friends along the way and explored a variety of hobbies and church activities. Mary enjoyed 65 years of marriage to her husband Joe, who preceded her in death by six years. She is survived by sister, Shirley (Malcolm) Lunsford of Merriville, IN ; her four children: Robert (Deborah) Alonso of Zionsville, IN; Brian (Laura) Alonso of Bainbridge Island, WA; Jane (Jim) Myers of Angola, IN and Toni (Mark) Street of Santa Rosa, CA; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, Zionsville with services to be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org
