Mary Lou Manka,
83, of Indianapolis, passed away September 11, 2014. She was born November 22, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Claude and Lois (Clayton) Hurley. She was a 1949 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Butler University and Master's Degree from Indiana University. She was a member of Phi Beta Phi, where she cultivated many lifelong friendships.
She taught in IPS for over 36 years, the last 28 at Tech. In addition to teaching PE, she was cheerleader sponsor, and coached volleyball. Mary Lou served on the board of the Arsenal Technical High School Alumni Association for more than 25 years and was a recipient of the Hansen H. Anderson, Karl J. Stipher, and the Duane Blankenship Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Mary Lou is survived by her son, Steve (Tammy); and grandchildren, Hanna and Sterling.
