Meyer Solotkin,
90, passed away February 15, 2016. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, he was born to Tony and Gertrude Solotkin on June 17, 1925. After graduating from Manual High School, Meyer proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He then opened the Bates Street Iron and Metal Company with his brother, Alfred. Meyer co-operated the business for over 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Meyer had many musical interests and was completely self taught. He began playing the harmonica at 15 years old and collected harmonicas in every size. He also played piano and composed music from the time he was 20 years of age until his passing. In addition, Meyer sang for many years in local glee clubs and a barber shop quartet.
He was a member of Congregation Beth-El Zedeck and bowled for the Beth-El Men's Club Team for several years.
Meyer was a devoted husband and loving father. He leaves behind his wife, Rosalyn Cibull Solotkin; son, Dr. David Solotkin; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Solotkin; sister, Libby Goldman; and a few faithful friends.
Funeral services will be held at Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Rd., on February 18, 2016 at 2 PM. Burial will follow in the Congregation Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the Jewish Federation or Sisterhood.
