Michial ("Mickey/"Mike") Laverne Peabody,
74, was born on July 28, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He passed away December 8, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN. His father, a military man, and his mother, a homemaker, had 7 children together.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Beverly ("Mni") McVeigh; first wife, Dot; children, Dave Charron, John Michael and Gerry McVeigh, and Ändrea McVeigh-Nelson (TK Nelson); only grandchild, Ardan Blaez Nelson; brother, John CrowDog; nieces, Crystal and Tricia CrowDog, Kiya Jim, and Abby; nephews, John CrowDog Jr., Chaske Quana CrowDog, Che and Asajay Jim, Gabriel and Frankie.
Mickey and Dot had a beautiful daughter, Leslie, who was waiting for him when he passed over.
Better known as "Mickey and Mni" (meaning water in Lakota) to those that love them, he met his current wife, Bev McVeigh, in 1998. Mickey was an honorable Yuwipi altar man for Lakota Chief John CrowDog. He and Mni travelled extensively to traditional Native American ceremonies across the United States, including many Sundances. He fulfilled the sacred Hanbleceya (Traditional Lakota Vision Quest ceremony), and was given the name "Coyote Having A Thought" by tribal elders.
Over the years, he extensively enjoyed canoeing, hunting and living off the land, hiking, cycling, and dancing in PowWows. Mickey found many of his most special relationships doing these things. He had a deep respect for Nature and all religions.
Mickey proudly worked at the Precedent for 20 years where he retired.
He travelled most of the continental United States visiting National and State Parks, and Indian Reservations.
Mickey was a fine craftsman making items ranging from origami to dream catchers to sacred drums. He was an avid reader who collected books and loved giving dinosaurs to his grandson-- it made him smile.
He was a very special person who always gave of himself, exhibited extreme spiritual discipline, and walked lightly upon the earth. He will be deeply missed, and always remembered.
