Mike Irons

John Michael Irons,
61, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born in 1955 in Belleville, Illinois to Claire and Jim Irons, who preceded him in death.

Mike was a graduate of Belleville West High School (1974), University of Illinois (1978), and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL (1981).

He completed his internship in internal medicine (1982) and his residency in anatomic/clinical pathology at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis (1986).

Mike was the Head of Medical Education of the Department of Pathology at St. Vincent Hospital (1990-2010), Medical Director of the Medical Technology School (1990-1997), and Chairman of the Department of Pathology (1994-2004).

Mike is survived by his wife, Becky DeGroot Irons; daughter, Sonnie Irons; sisters, Rocky Sage (Scott) and Rusty Irons; brothers, Kevin Irons (Darlene), Tim Irons (Lynn) and Dan Irons; and nieces and nephews, Sam Sage (Becky), Sadie Pirraglia (Anthony), Madison Trown (Spencer), Morgan Boudinet (Eric), Grace Irons, Zoe Irons, Tori Irons, Augie Irons, and Callie Irons.
