Mosell "Buddy" Miller was born to John and Mary Miller on October 18, 1912, in Meridian, Mississippi. His mother passed away of typhoid fever, early in his childhood and he grew up with 6 siblings,5 which have proceeded him in death: 1 brother named Bud and 5 sisters, Goldie McElroy, Pearlie Hayes, Elnora Rowden, Earlie Naylor, 1 living sister, Mary Freeman. The true gentleman, with
the hearty belly laugh, still very sound in mind, lived to be 100 years old. He passed away in Fishers, Indiana on February 28,2013.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Soon after his service ended, his sister, Goldie, introduced him to Lillie Mae Pleasant, and this union lasted until her death by
Alzheimer's disease, in the late 1980's. They were inseparable, and he forever remained by her side until the day she died. Lillie and Buddy had no children together, but through Vernon Sanders,
Lillie's son, there were four grandchildren: Gerry (Phyllis) Sanders, Fishers, IN; Karen (William) Farrington, Indianapolis, IN; Christopher Evans, Los Angeles, CA; Dawn Sanders, Los Angeles, CA;
and Michelle Sanders, Houston, TX. No grandchild could ask for a better grandfather "you were always there for us!"
He was a praying man, he loved church. His niece, "Sug" who is now 96 years old, fondly remembers his beautiful prayers from the other room. He was a member and eventually became a deacon of
Mt. Paran Baptist church located in the outskirts of Indianapolis. Fond memories will always remain of the way he would hum his songs while getting dressed in 'his room' for church; and every Sunday
how he always shined his shoes! He worked for the Army Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison until retiring in March of 1981.
Buddy loved to garden. Every summer, we'd see the latest addi-tions to the garden; and the infamous peach tree always gave him and Grandma Lillie grief! But the peach cobblers always made it worth it. Hunting and fishing were his absolute loves. Oh and when he would get mad Buddy didn't like to argue so when it got too much, you'd see him get to a high pitch, stutter then just shut down and start with the humming!
God granted him a long healthy life on this earth. He passed away on February 28, 2013 of a virus that his body was just not strong enough to fight off. Buddy is survived by 1 sister, Mary Freeman, St. Louis, MO; 1 Niece, Berlina "Sug" French, St. Lou-is, MO;4 grandchildren (mentioned above); 1 Great Niece, Debo-rah Hammond, E. St. Louis, Illinois; 2 Great Nephews, Anthony Howard & Renaldo Williams, E. St. Louis, Illinois; Alex and William Farrington; Brandy, Christopher, Charity and Kennedy Sanders, 2 great-great grandchildren, Rodney Beeler III and Rylan Farrington & a host of other great nieces & nephews.
