Nam Du Thai

On the evening of Thursday June 15, 2023, at 9:05 PM, Nam Du Thai passed away at the ICU of IU Health University Hospital after a 2 year battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his wife, brothers, sister, and their families, including visiting cousins from Texas.  He was 67 years old.

Nam was born on December 1, 1955, in Saigon, Vietnam.  While he was living in Vietnam, he attended Petrus Ky High School and graduated from Phu Tho Polytech University in Civil Engineering.

After the fall of Saigon in 1975, he worked as an engineer for Ha Tien Cement Company.  In 1980, he left Vietnam by boat with his two brothers and arrived in Malaysia after days of terror at sea.  After 6 months of living in the Malaysia refugee camps, his sister finally got all three of them settled in Indiana.

He then worked part time in different jobs while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and Computer Science from IUPUI. He worked on contract with Eli Lily as a programmer. Then he worked as a software engineer at Delphi in Kokomo for about 20 years before getting the position of a software engineer in 2009 with Raytheon, where he remained until his last day.

He was known for his intelligence, good memories, and generous spirit.  He was very sweet, kind, gentle and helpful to everyone he knew. Though his presence is no longer with us, he will always be missed and loved by our families.

Nam is survived by his loving family:

Brother: Hung Du Thai, wife Thao Nguyen Thai and children

Sister: Lien Le and family

Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson (ARN), 11411 N. Michigan Rd,

Zionsville 46077.

The schedule is as followed:

9AM -10:30AM: family ceremony

10:30AM - 12:30PM: guest visitation and viewing

12:30PM - 1 PM: eulogy

1 PM:  final delivery to cremation
