Patsy M. Kunz

May 8, 1925 — July 26, 2016

Lively, young at heart, tenacious and independent describe Patsy M. Kunz who died on July 26, 2016, leaving a legacy of lasting grace, dignity and kindness.

Patsy Kunz was born on May 8, 1925, in Anderson, Indiana to Kenneth and Gladys Milne. Her father was an engineer for General Motors International, and a good part of her early childhood was spent overseas in England, France and Australia. The remainder of her childhood was spent in Pendleton, Indiana. After receiving her bachelor's degree from Purdue University, she moved to Indianapolis where she worked for the William H. Block Department Store.

In 1949, she married Willis Kunz and, for the next 20 years, raised a family of five children. After much involvement in social causes, Patsy decided to pursue a career in Social Work. She returned to school, and in 1973, she received her MSW from Indiana University. From 1975 until her retirement in 1990, she worked as a Social Worker for the Indianapolis Public Schools. She spent most of her later years caring for her grandchildren and relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty of Pentwater, Michigan. Patsy loved the out of doors. She was knowledgeable about birds and flowers and loved spending time in the woods. Children were a priority in her life. She helped tutor children at IPS after her retirement, and she was devoted to her grandchildren.

Patsy enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She took great pains planning and preparing the perfect meal for her family and friends. She also loved music and art. She was a docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art and a patron of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra from the time she graduated from college. Patsy had a lifelong concern for social justice and enjoyed talking about politics. She was not afraid of expressing her political opinions to others - even when she knew their opinions were diametrically opposite of hers.

Patsy Kunz is survived by her brother, Kenneth T. Milne, Jr.; five children, Kathryn (Antonio Duran), Sarah (John Goodman), Peter "Fritz" (Jane), Elizabeth and Daniel; and grandchildren, Cecil, Caroline and Lillian Goodman, Anne Knubbe, Carey and Kamman Kunz and Will Kunz. A celebration of her life will be held on September 25, 2016, at Traders Point Creamery from 11:30 until 2:00.

Arrangements entrusted to A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services.
