Peggy J. Kingery, 80, of Greenfield died July 23, 2024, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield, Indiana.
She was born February 8, 1944, in Pendleton, to Murray and Georgianna (Flowers) Alford. Peggy graduated in 1962 from Pendleton High School and married Melvin Kingery on February 6, 1987.
Peggy grew up on her family’s farm in Pendleton and learned about hard work as a young child. This drove her to become a jack-of-all trades in multiple areas throughout her working life including; waitress, secretary, cashier, office manager, home decorating contractor, custodian, home health worker, caterer, and cook. Her greatest joy and passions aligned in her role as office administrator for World Renewal International, where she provided support for international missionaries until her retirement in 2017.
The matriarch of a large and loving blended family, Peggy - aka “Granny” - was known for her cooking skills, warm heart, and infectious laugh. Peggy was devoted to her relationship with Jesus and shared his love with anyone she came into contact with.
Peggy is survived by her loving family including; daughters, Julie (Rick) Truscott of Knightstown, Nikki (David Caudill) Kingery of Cincinnati, OH; and son Jeff (Amy) Godbey of Greenfield; She is also survived by grandchildren Kaitlin Moore (Dante Raffaelli), Kelsie Moore, Josiah (Kristen) Godbey; Aaron (Lauren) Godbey, Nate Caudill, and Eli Caudill. She was also Great Granny to Leonardo, Matteo, Sofia, Caden, and Avery.
Family members preceding Peggy in death include her husband, Melvin Kingery; parents; sister Sherrie Shuck; brother Jon Alford; and son Joe Godbey.
Friends may gather from 9 to 10:30 am on August 10 at her home church, Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E New Road, Greenfield, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:30 am.
