82 years of age, long time resident of Indianapolis,
passed away February 24, 2012. Phil served his country in the US Army. He later moved to Indianapolis, where he managed the Central Hardware Store at 38th and Lafayette Road and later served as merchandising manager for JC Penney.
Phil's first wife, Lois H. Fogle Bernstein, passed away in 1988 after 35 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Clary Bernstein; children, Elyse (Mark) Smith, Shelle Bernstein, Mark (Edie) Bernstein; and Betty's children, Mitchell (Carrie) Katz and Marty Katz and grandchildren, Adam, Levi, Emily, Katya, Lauren, Nick, Blair and Brynn; and his sister, Barbara "Bobby" (Walter) Harris.
Funeral services will be held on February 27, 2012 in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Road at 2:00pm.
Burial will follow in Beth-El Zedeck North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth-El Zedeck or a favorite charity.
The family will observe the shiva period at the home of Mark and Edie Bernstein, 364 Pintail Court.
Friends may call on Monday following the funeral service and on Tuesday from 4-8pm.
