Phillip Eugene Beers

Phillip Eugene Beers,

72, of Indianapolis passed away November 22, 2022. He was born in Fort Benning, Georgia to the late Leo and Ruth Beers on April 24, 1950. He is survived by his 2 wonderful sons, Samuel and Daniel. He is also survived by his older sister, Diane Kavanagh- Simmerok (Ralph) older brother, Chris and younger brother, Don. He has 2 wonderful grandchildren, Violet and George.

Phillip proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He pursued his education beyond a Master’s degree at Indiana State University. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity while at ISU. He also played on ISU’s football team all 4 years.

Phil taught 7 years overseas with International Schools in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He also taught with DODEA (Department of Defense schools) for 9 years in Subic Bay Philippines and Yokosuka, Japan. Phil also taught in Terre Haute, Indiana and completed his teaching profession in Indianapolis at IPS schools.

Phil enjoyed many adventures like white water rafting and fishing for a Blue Nile Perch with a chain leader and an empty Clorox bottle as a bobber! He loved to tell that fishing story!

He was a very dedicated and devoted father to his sons.  He had a lot of fun with his students in his classroom and enjoyed his teaching career!
