Richard Eugene Forsythe the “Big Red Rocker” passed away on March 8th, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on October 30, 1957 to Forest and Judy Forsythe in Frankfort, IN and resided in Anderson, IN most of his life. After retirement, he continued to DJ and bartend for various events in and out of town where he was the highlight of the party. He was a member of the VMC and loved to spend time hanging out with family, golfing, riding his motorcycle, laughing and rocking out with his friends and family. He was the type of person that everyone knew and loved. No matter the situation or pain in was in, he always had a joke on hand to make you laugh.

He is survived by his two daughters, Siobhan (Eric) Gillespie and  Nichole (Richard) Stowe; sister, Sherry Rogers; adoptive son, DJ Tarpley; grandchildren, Jared Keller (Taylor), Alex Keller (Autumn), Dallas Keller, Kamryn Vardaman (Jonnyy), Arianna Gillespie, and Grace Stowe; two great-grandchildren, Karter Keller and Oliver Vardaman; cousin, Dave (Julie) Allen; numerous other family; and so many beloved friends that it is impossible to list each one (you know who you are).

He was preceded in death by his parents; Forest and and Judy; and the love of his life, Cindy Forsythe.

The family would like to take time to thank the oncology staff at Ascension St. Vincent and all of the nurses and hospital staff for taking amazing care of Richard on numerous occasions the last 6 years and always helping him smile on his toughest days. A special thank you goes to Alexis, Cindy, Courtney, and Kimberly for providing him with ongoing love, dignity and kindness in his final days.
