Richard Vaughn “Dick” Kilgore p assed away, August 18, 2022. He was born in Wabash, IN in 1926 where he attended Wabash High and Wabash Christian Church. He valued education and received a MBA from Indiana University and a Doctor of Divinity from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.
Dick married Catherine “Katie” Watson in 1949 and moved to Washington DC where they had their first child, Paul. Dick and Katie soon returned to Indiana as Dick entered the ministry with the Disciples of Christ. Sons, Doug and Steve soon followed.
After serving churches in Indiana and Iowa, Katie and Dick did a series of interim positions living in six states from North Carolina to California. He was well loved by the many lives he touched.
An avid baseball fan, Dick rejoiced in the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series victory. It was a highlight of his later years.
Dick is survived by sons, Paul (Tammi), Doug (Bev), and Steve (Sentho) Kilgore; grandchildren, Matthew, Patrick, Errin Kilgore-Roehl (Angela), John, Matia (Akil), and Jeneba; great-grandchildren, Titus and Kai; brother-in-law, Ed Watson and sister-in-law , Connie Schmauss (Fred). He was preceded in death by his beloved Katie.
A memorial service will be held October 8, 3pm at Robin Run Village, 5354 W 62nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46268, followed by a period of greeting and conversation.
