Richard N. (Dick) Lasley, 80, passed away peacefully January 10, 2013 after a long battle with a rare neurologic disease, Multiple System Atrophy . Dick was born in Indianapolis on May 31, 1932 to Gabriel Keith Lasley and Effie Webster Lasley. He was a graduate of Ben Davis High School and attended Purdue University. He worked for L.S. Ayres for 10 years and for the Indianapolis Star & News Advertising Departments for 39 years, retiring in 2002. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force at Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, CA. Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Judith Morelock Lasley, and his sons Michael J. Lasley (Marni Lemons) of Indianapolis and Douglas A Lasley of Greenwood and family pets Eli and Lilly.
He was a quiet man, a modest man, a gentle man. No great accolades, no vast number of memberships, no high positions, just an ordinary man loving and supporting his family and his country, doing his job and going the extra mile whenever he could. May he rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre, Community Church of Greenwood or an animal rescue organization of your choice.
