Robert Fulton Craven,
94, of Indianapolis, IN died Saturday, December 8, 2012. Robert was born to the late Hugh and Besse Mae Hockman Craven in Chicago, IL on April 18, 1918. Robert served his country in WWII and the Korean War as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. He was discharged in 1952.
Robert was an attorney. He was admitted to the bar in 1955 where he specialized in Trial practice, Criminal, Corporation, Negligence, Probate and Insurance Law. He retired in 2005 and was honored for celebrating 50 years of service.
Preparatory education, Butler University (B.S., 1941); legal education, Indiana University, St. Mary's University (LL. B., 1954; Honorary LL.D., 1970); Lincoln College (LL.D., 1970); Fraternity, Phi Delta Phi; The Law-Science Academy, 1962; Claims Supervisor, American Automobile Insurance Company, 1946-47; Indianapolis Bar Association; Indiana Trial Lawyers Association; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; U.S.A.F., JAG Reserve.
He also enjoyed boating and was a long time member of Indianapolis Yacht Club. He was a Mason and member of Calvin W. Prather Lodge #717, as well as a Shriner. He was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. Bob will be remembered by his family as having a great sense of humor, and love of family and life.
Surviving are children, Susan (Tony) Gilmette and Robert A. (Heidi) Craven; three grandchildren, Robert M. Craven (Minerva), Jessica Craven, and Harald Moser; and great grandson, Ashton Robert Craven.
He was preceded by his wife, Ardis Anderson Craven; daughter, Shari Lynn Craven; brothers, Howard T. Craven and Richard E. Craven; and sister, Mae Elene Craven Ehinger.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date at a longtime family gathering place in Michigan.
