Robert Stout Fribley

December 25, 1953 — July 18, 2012

Robert Stout Fribley, 58, of Indianapolis, passed to his next level of consciousness on July 18, 2012, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on July 9. Rob was born in Richmond, Indiana, December 25, 1953, to the late Rev. Robert W. Fribley and the late Jane E. Stout Fribley, who were long-time residents of Indianapolis.

Rob was a devoted son, husband, father, sibling, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He was a very kind and caring person who put the needs of others before his own. In addition to relationships with family and friends, Rob's joy was found in camping and communing with nature, writing songs and playing guitar, and his study and spiritual quest for the meaning of life. He spent countless hours at bedside with family members and friends in their final weeks and days, providing unwavering solace and care as they passed from this life. We are deeply saddened to lose Rob from our world, but find comfort knowing his physical being is now at peace, and that his spirit is truly free to seek the answers he sought for so long. His spirit also lives on with those who loved him, and in the many gardens he nurtured and left behind.

Rob is survived by his daughter, Jenna L. Fribley (Ike Goss), ex-wife Nancy S. Fribley, three sisters, Nancy J. Snider (John), Barbara J. Weidenbener (Joseph), and Sarah A. Reynolds (Richard), his loving niece and nephews, Beth, Eric, Jeff, David, and Jason, and his cousins. There are also many close friends who embraced Rob as part of their own family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to protect the Stout Woods Nature Preserve in Henry County, Indiana, which was the family farm owned by Rob's grandparents. Please make checks payable to Red-tail Land Conservancy, with "Stout Woods" in the memo line and mail to Red-tail Land Conservancy, P.O. Box 8, Muncie IN 47308. You may also donate on their website at www.fortheland.org via credit card or pay pal (please reference "Stout Woods" for your memorial donation).

A celebration of Rob's life will be held at a future date.
