Robert Allan Monat,
68 years of age, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 10, 2017. Bob was born on February 6, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to Seymour and Adele (nee Weiss) Monat.
Bob was the loving husband of Sharon (nee Rivlin) Monat for 46 years; beloved father of Jeremy (Jill), Andrew (Karen) and Elyse and grandfather of Elizabeth, Isaac, and newborn, Charlotte; older brother of Helene (Jerry Edelstein), George (Janis) and Richard. Family and friends were his greatest joys. Bob was an Eagle Scout, Cub Master of Pack 22 at Greenbriar School for five years and active member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation since 1980.
Bob was dedicated to his children whom he taught to be good people and parents, and he was a cheerful friend to many.
Bob was a 1971 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a member of Rensselaer Society of Engineers.
A computer programmer and holder of two patents (including one he held with his father), Bob owned Jerand Technical Services. Previously, he worked for Cooper Tire and RCA. He was also a published author of Pro/Engineer, Quick Reference and a respected expert in the field of computer-aided design.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, 6501 N. Meridian Street at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at IHC North Cemetery.
