Ronald Allen Block,
73, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away July 3, 2017 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 7, 1944 to Hilde (Heinemann) and Nathan Alfons Block. Ron graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and pursued a career as an Actuary, completing the designation of Fellow of Society of Actuaries. He moved to Indianapolis in 1978 to work with Mercer (part of Marsh & McLennan Companies), where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
Ron was an avid gardener, sports enthusiast and community volunteer. He volunteered for many sports related events held in Indianapolis and served on various boards of directors including Ballet Internationale-Indianapolis, Storytelling Arts of Indiana, and Spotlight Players.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. Jeffrey (Liz) Block of Westlake Village, CA; nephew, David (Nicole) Block of NY, NY; nieces, Kara Block of Summerland, CA, Rebecca and Alexandra Block of Westlake Village, CA; plus a great niece and great nephew. He's also survived by longtime friend, Patty Brown, who lovingly supported him and coordinated his care team.
Expressions of gratitude are extended to all those who provided compassionate care and brought joy to his life during his struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Burial services were held in Camarillo, California and a private Celebration of Life was held in Indianapolis.
