Ruben G. Garcia, formerly of the Denver area, passed away at the age of 61 in Carmel on Thursday August 9, 2012 following his battle with prostate cancer. He was born on May 9, 1951 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Frank and Teresita Garcia. Ruben was a proud alumni of New Mexico State University where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in chemical engineering as well as the University of Denver where he earned his MBA. Ruben was highly regarded throughout the roofing industry. He worked for over 25 years at Johns Manville in various research and development, as well as management positions. For the past five years, Ruben served as the Director of Product Development at Firestone Building Products. Ruben was an avid fly-fisherman, wine enthusiast, and connoisseur of New Mexican green chile.
Ruben is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Janice, son, Gregory, daughter, Michelle, brothers, Denis and Alex, and sisters, Sylvia and Dolores.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 14th, at the Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary at 11411 North Michigan Road. The family will be available for a visitation at the mortuary from 1 PM until the time of service. There will also be a memorial service held in Denver, Colorado at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
