Rudolph William “Rudy” Mueller,
69, of Zionsville, passed away September 16, 2022. He was born in Bronxville, New York on January 11, 1953, to the late Theodore Rolf and Bernice Dorothea Mueller. Rudy spent his lifetime in the service of others as a clergy member. He married the love of his life, Nancy Rimkus, on November 18, 1978, in St. Louis.
Rudy graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1971. Afterwards, he attended Valparaiso University where he earned his B.A. in Psychology in 1974. He then went on to earn a Master’s in Divinity from Christ Seminary-Seminex. He completed his vicarage in East Northport on Long Island, NY. His first call was to pastor Resurrection Lutheran in Godfrey, IL. He then pastored Christ Lutheran in Evansville, IN and First English Lutheran in Mishawaka, IN. He continued his service with the Indiana-Kentucky Synod of the ELCA as Assistant to the Bishop. Finally, he served as interim pastor at Pilgrim Lutheran in Carmel, IN.
Rudy will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and his love of the Lord and preaching of the Gospel. He enjoyed visiting “The Hill” in St. Louis for a bite to eat, and of course, Ted Drewes. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona, Florida, Maine, and Tennessee, jamming out to Jimmy Buffett, going for walks with Nancy, watching and identifying birds, cheering on the Colts, and spending time with his family.
Rudy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy; his children, Theodore Michael Mueller (Katherine) and Kristin Leann Zielinski (Michael); grandchildren, Charlotte Grace Mueller, Noah Rudolph Mueller, Jonah Levi Mueller; and Edmund Matthew Zielinski; brothers, Jonathan Frederick Mueller (Rita) and Timothy Alan Mueller (Anne); and nieces and nephews, Kelly, Lisa, Ryan, Laura, Daniel, Brian, Lisa, Sharon, and Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Bernice Mueller, and brother, Michael Thomas Mueller.
Services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Zionsville (600 N. Ford Rd., Zionsville IN, 46077) on Saturday, September 24, beginning at 10 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church in America , World Hunger, or the Speedway Christian Church Food Pantry, 5110 West 14th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46224. “ Oh, Rudy ”
