Russell White Hamilton, 63, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 in his home. Russ was born June 20th, 1948 in Indianapolis to Ethel Janet White Hamilton and Lucius O. Hamilton II. He resided in Indianapolis his entire life and was a graduate of Culver Military Academy's Class of 1966. He then went on to proudly graduate from Franklin and Marshall University in 1970 with a degree in Government.
Professionally, Russ spent 27 years as a Sergeant with the Marion County Sheriff's Department, Reserve Division. He also spent 20 years with First Investors Corporation. He was a member of the Deputy Sheriff Fraternal Organization as well as "Shop with a Deputy".
Russ was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, served as a whipper in Foxhounds for Trader's Point Hunt, and was a driving trainer at Putnam Park Raceway. Russ was a member of Zion Evangelical Church of Christ.
Russ will be remembered for his love of life, family, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Howard) Hamilton; his brother, Lucius O. (Liz) Hamilton III; and his children, Katherine J. (Raymond P., III) Hamilton Giehll and Britt D. (Nichol) Ripley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four nieces and nephews, an aunt, an uncle and a cousin.
Visitors will be accepted from 5 - 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary, 11411 N. Michigan Rd, with a service to follow directly afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to donations be made in Russ's name to the American Heart Association or the Wounded Warriors Project.
