Russell “Russ” Pollock of Indianapolis, formally of Greencastle, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020. Born July 15, 1934, Russ was a son, husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Delores in 2009; parents, Forrest and Leota Pollock; sister, Mildred Johnson; and brother, Chester Pollock. He is survived by his four children, John Pollock, Dan (Paula) Pollock, Kathy (Rick) Higham and Janet (Mike) Long; as well as 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Russ graduated from Oakwood High School in 1952 where he met his wife, Delores, in his senior year. They married in September 1952. Russ worked extremely hard for his family, working for the railroad for years before moving on to work for Allison Transmission. He retired after 30 years. The family enjoyed many years of family vacations in Big Lake, MN where Russ loved to fish and camp. It would be the only annual vacation he would take, working almost seven days per week the rest of the year.
You could say he had racing in his blood, which he passed onto all the men in the family. Russ raced stock cars and go-carts for years, competed in demolition derbies and was a FEARLESS Figure 8 Champion at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN. He loved Nascar, and his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
