Sam Widmeyer,
67, devoted father to Ben (Beth) Widmeyer and beloved grandfather to Zoe Widmeyer, lost his battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Dave (Beverly) and Mick Widmeyer; and sisters, Nancy Dugan, Sally Owens, Toni (Chuck) Stocksdale, and Debbie Golden. Loved for his playful spirit and sense of humor, he will be fondly remembered by his nephews, Willie Widmeyer and Lance Owens; nieces, Abby Houtman, Samantha Lingeman, Kelly Nicholls, Megan Stocksdale, and Haley and Carly Widmeyer; and his five great nieces and nephews.
Sam attended public school 84, Castle Heights Military Academy, and graduated in 1965 from Broad Ripple High School. He worked with his brothers in their father's home improvement business in Elwood, IN. Eventually, moving to Marion, IN where for twenty years he owned Widmeyer and Dugan Remodeling. Before retiring to Florida, to be closer to his son, daughter-in-law, and adored granddaughter, he owned Indiana Sam's Classic Cars. In Florida, he owned Sam's Pub before falling ill with cancer. His lifetime love was classic cars. Teasing and practical jokes were his favorite hobbies. His zest for life allowed him to make friends easily, and he truly enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15th with the memorial service immediately following, at St. Luke's Methodist Church, 100 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN. 46260.
