Shirley Belle Petersen Thompson 80 of Kirklin passed away in her home on October 30, 2012.
She was born in Two Rivers Wisconsin on July 17, 1932 to Nels E Petersen and Ella Boetcher Petersen.
She was employed by the National Cigar Company in Frankfort for 14 years and PR Mallory Controls for 3 years until her retirement in 1987.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crossword puzzles, travelling and long Sunday afternoon drives.
She was a member of the Lady Elks.
She is survived by her loving husband, Earl Thompson whom she married on July 2, 1951 in Las Vegas Nevada.
Also survived by three daughters and six step children, Cathy (Ivan) Stegemann of Las Cruces NM, Connie Jo of Milwaukee WI, Sandee
(Coleman) Pickard of Frankfort,
Becky Lemen of Arnold MO, Dawn (Ronald) Wilson of Kirklin, with whom she lived. Lee (Kazuko) Thompson of Arvada CO, Tom (Pinky) Thompson of Goodyear AZ, Jerry Thompson of Chicago IL, Peter (Mala) Thompson of Harvest AL. 33 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister LaVerne Hayes and a brother Merlin (Pete) Petersen.
A celebration of life will be held at the Frankfort Moose Lodge in Frankfort on Saturday. November 17, 2012 from 2-4:30 PM.
