Susan Marie Everett

February 12, 1941 — August 11, 2021

Susan Marie Everett was a dear and lovely woman who was cherished by family and friends alike.  She was born in Indianapolis on February 12, 1941 to the late William C. and Dorothy (Muesing) Everett.  Although she and her brother David lived briefly in the city, her formative years were spent on the far eastside in the farmhouse that her maternal great-grandparents built over 100 years ago. Her Muesing family were also founding members of St. John’s United Church of Christ on German Church Road.

Susan attended Warren Township schools, graduating from Warren Central high school in 1959.  While there she discovered her passion for music and became a gifted violinist and vocalist, performing at many special events. Susan continued violin and voice studies at the Indiana University School of Music, becoming a valued member of the Singing Hoosiers choral group..

Susan returned home and worked as a special education teacher at IPS School 7 for several years after which she began her career in interior design at L.S. Ayres & Co.  After her time at the department store, she decided to establish her own decorating business in Indianapolis which she maintained until relocating to St. Petersburg, Florida. While there Susan continued her decorating for select clients while assisting her friend, Jodi Bookwalter with Jodi’s tax preparation service. Susan also served as a senior companion for several elderly acquaintances during her time in Florida.  After Jodi’s passing, Susan returned to Indianapolis to be with her mother and assist with her care.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Bill; brothers, David and Thomas; aunt and uncle, Marjorie and Edward Madinger; and uncles, Conrad Groseclose and Phil Capasso.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Everett and Carolyn Everett; nephews, Stephen, Todd (Carol), Thomas “T.J.”, Matthew (Ashley), and Joseph Everett; cousins, Kathleen Madinger Angelone, Bruce (Karen) Madinger, Kris Groseclose, Linda (Henry) Carruth,  Kurt (Angie) Groseclose, and Roxanne Buscemi; and a bounty of loyal and devoted forever friends too numerous to list.

She was a unique and gifted woman - articulate and intelligent, caring and considerate, amiable and giving - and she will be missed by all of us fortunate enough to have had her in our lives.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 20, 2021, 10 AM at Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Carmel.  Funeral Service to follow at 11 AM.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 1 PM in St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery of Cumberland.
