Sylvia Gene Purcell

On December 31st, 2016, we had to say goodbye to Sylvia Gene Purcell, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. She was born in Roswell, New Mexico to Edith and George Hollifield in 1936. Sylvia celebrated her 80th birthday this past October 15th, 2016.
Sylvia was a pioneer in her very successful work career. She worked her way at FH Langsenkamp from receptionist to become their first woman sales rep. She also spent many years as a Board Member and Vice President of her family business, Capitol City Container Corp. In addition, Sylvia was a proud member of the Eastern Star, Fairland Chapter 359 O.E.S. for 41 years.
After retirement, Sylvia and John moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where they spent 15 wonderful years. She and John were residing in Zionsville, Indiana over the last 1 ½ years at the Heart at Tudor Gardens. Sylvia passed away peacefully at home with family beside her. Family was her number one passion, but she also enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 62 years, John R. Purcell; her sons and their families, Mike & Rosie Purcell and their children, Matt and Kevin; Rich & Toni Purcell and their children, Scott, Alex, Mitch, Nick and Duke; and Doug & Debbie Purcell and their children, Jordan, Josh and Jake; three great-grandchildren, Audrey, Sam and Wesley; and her sister, Linda Hays.
Sylvia's family asks that you please remember Sylvia, as she now is living again through them and each and every life she touched. Sylvia, "Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Friend", you will be missed but never forgotten.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Sylvia's Life on Saturday, January 28th, 2017 from 1 - 4 PM in the chapel at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services. She had a passion for animals and lived a very blessed year with the assistance of hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to The Humane Society or a local hospice group of your choice.
