Theodore "Ted" A. Shonfield,
81 years of age, passed away on June 7, 2015. Ted was born in Muncie, Indiana to Raymond and Pearl Shonfield. He was a graduate of Muncie Burris High School and a 1956 graduate Indiana University, where he received his degree in psychology. Ted served in the US Army, where he was a First Lieutenant.
During his long career Ted worked for Howard Sams Co. in New York and Chicago. Later, he started ITT Institute, which was originally named Sams Technical Institute and his last position was for National Chemsearch, an industrial chemical company, where he worked for 47 years.
Ted loved cars, music and playing piano. He was a member of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity and a long time member of Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Deanna Mae Beckerman Shonfield; daughters, Julie Stachovic of Dallas, TX and Laura J. Emery of Fishers, IN; and grandson, Theodore Emery.
Ted was preceded in death by his first wife, Nyla Kay Shonfield; and his sister, Amelia "Amy" Fisher.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County Humane Society or to American Cancer Society.
