Thomas Lloyd Roberts

Thomas Lloyd Roberts, a treasured husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 71st birthday. Words cannot begin to capture the impact Tom made in the lives of those who knew him. Throughout his life, Tom embodied kindness, hard work, a zest for living and a genuine spirit that touched everyone he encountered.

Tom was born on January 20, 1954 in Indianapolis. He grew up in Seelyville, IN and was the middle of five children. Tommy, as he was known in his younger days, was a jokester and trailblazed a path of his own. Tom started his college journey in 1972 at Indiana State. He then transferred and earned his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from University of South Florida. After a few years in California, Tom returned to school to change careers and earned his Bachelor's degree in computer technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), laying the groundwork for a career as a systems analyst for RCI. Tom was known not only for his expertise in technology but also for his ability to solve problems and create meaningful connections with colleagues. A perk of working for RCI was vacationing and creating countless memories with family and friends. 

While studying at the computer lab at IUPUI in 1981, Tom met the love of his life and wife, Doris Del Valle Roberts. They were married on December 22, 1984 and were blessed to celebrate 40 years together.  Tom’s life was enriched by his devoted wife, who stood steadfastly by his side throughout their journey together. Their love was a testament to partnership, marked by laughter and mutual respect. Together they welcomed two beloved children into the world, Kimberly (Johan) and Daryl, who were the shining lights of Tom’s life. He took immense pride in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today, guiding them with wisdom and love that will forever resonate in their hearts.  

As a grandfather, Tom’s spirit shone even brighter. He adored his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Teo, and Luca, creating joyful memories filled with laughter and love. The children love to imitate Pampa, as he was known to them, especially his infamous mustache. Tom's eyes shined the brightest when in the presence of his grandchildren or when talking about them. These moments spent together will be treasures that enrich their lives for years to come.

Tom enjoyed living life to the fullest and lived a very active and adventurous life. You could usually find him on the golf course, on the handball court, doing yard work, or listening to music. Tom often shared his love of music and artists with those in his life. Tom started playing the violin in junior high and as an adult played in the orchestra at Traders Point Christian Church for a few years. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, Tom would play the violin while his son Daryl played the piano. Apart from music, Tom was an avid sports fan. Growing up he cheered for the Chicago White Sox & the Chicago Bears. He was a season ticketholder of the Indiana Pacers. After many many years, he converted to being an Indianapolis Colts fan full-time. Tom also enjoyed hiking, and hiked to the summit of Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the contiguous United States, on more than one occasion. During his last few years, Tom enjoyed walking at Eagle Creek Park almost daily. 

Tom was preceded in death by his loving parents, Thomas and Donna Roberts, who instilled in him the values of integrity, work ethic, and compassion that he carried throughout his life. Their legacy lives on in Tom’s family, a constant reminder of the love and guidance that has shaped their lives. Tom is survived by his four siblings, Cindy (Doug), Valeri, Jimmy, and Cheryl.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8th at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, at 5 PM. Friends are welcome to visit from 2 PM until the time of the service.

In remembering Thomas Lloyd Roberts, we celebrate a man whose impact on those he knew leaves a permanent mark. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, reminding us that even amidst loss, the bonds of love endure and flourish. Tom's life, filled with purpose, generosity, and dedication, serves as a lasting inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing him. His spirit will forever be a beacon of light in our lives.

 Thomas Lloyd Roberts, un tesoro de esposo, padre, abuelo y amigo, falleció pacíficamente el 22 de enero del 2025, apenas dos días después de celebrar su cumpleaño 71. Las palabras no pueden captar el impacto que Tom tuvo en las vidas de quienes lo conocieron. A lo largo de su vida, Tom encarnó la bondad, el trabajo duro, el entusiasmo por vivir y un espíritu genuino que conmovió a todos los que conoció.

 Tom nació el 20 de enero de 1954 en Indianápolis. Creció en Seelyville, IN y entre cinco hijos, el era el del medio. Tommy, como lo llamaba su familiares y sus amigos de infancia, era un bromista y fue un pionero de su propio sendero. Tom comenzó su vida universitario en 1972 en Indiana State. Luego se transfirió y obtuvo su licenciatura de Contaduria en la Universidad del Sur de Florida. Después de unos años en California, Tom regresó a la universidad para cambiar de carrera y obtuvo su licenciatura en Tecnología de la Computadoras en la Universidad de Indiana-Universidad Purdue de Indianápolis (IUPUI), cosechando las bases para una carrera como analista de sistemas para RCI. Tom era conocido no sólo por su experiencia en tecnología sino también por su capacidad para resolver problemas y crear conexiones significativas con colegas. Una ventaja de trabajar para RCI era estar de vacaciones y crear innumerables recuerdos con familiares y amigos

 Mientras estudiaba en el laboratorio de computación de IUPUI en 1981, Tom conoció al amor de su vida y a su esposa, Doris Del Valle Roberts. Se casaron el 22 de diciembre de 1984 y tuvieron la suerte de celebrar 40 años juntos. La vida de Tom se vio enriquecida por su devota esposa, quien estuvo firmemente a su lado durante toda su vida juntos. Su amor fue un testimonio de colaboración, marcado por la risa y el respeto mutuo. Juntos dieron la bienvenida al mundo a dos amados hijos, Kimberly (Johan) y Daryl, quienes fueron las luces brillantes de la vida de Tom. Se enorgulleció inmensamente de verlos convertirse en las personas extraordinarias que son hoy, guiándolos con sabiduría y amor que siempre resonará en sus corazones.

 Como abuelo, el espíritu de Tom brilló aún más. Adoraba a sus queridos nietos, Noah, Teo y Luca, creando recuerdos alegres llenos de risas y amor. A los niños les encanta imitar a Pampa, como lo conocían, especialmente su infame bigote. Los ojos de Tom brillaban más cuando estaba en presencia de sus nietos o cuando hablaba de ellos. Esos momentos que pasaron juntos serán tesoros que enriquecerán sus vidas en los años venideros.

 Tom disfrutó viviendo su vida al máximo y vivió una vida muy activa y aventurera. Por lo general, se lo podía encontrar en el campo de golf, en la cancha de Handball, trabajando en el patio, o escuchando música. Tom a menudo compartía su amor por la música y los artistas con quienes estaban en su vida. Tom comenzó a tocar el violín en la escuela secundaria y, de adulto, tocó durante varios años en la orquesta de la Iglesia Cristiana Traders Point. Durante el Día de Acción de Gracias y en Navidad, Tom tocaba el violín mientras su hijo Daryl tocaba el piano. Además de la música, Tom era un ávido aficionado a los deportes. Creciendo, su equipo era los Medias Blancas de Chicago y los Osos de Chicago. Después de muchos años, se convirtió en fanático a tiempo completo del equipo de futbol americano de los Colts de Indianapolis. Tambien era dueño de boletos de la temporada de basquetball de los Indiana Pacers. A Tom también le gustaba caminar y en mas de una ocasion, caminó hasta la cima de la montaña Mount Whitney, la montaña más alta de los Estados Unidos. Durante sus ultimos años, Tom distruto caminando el parque Eagle Creek casi a diario. 

 Tom fue precedido de muerte por sus amorosos padres, Thomas y Donna Roberts, quienes le inculcaron los valores de integridad, ética de trabajo, y compasión que el llevó a lo largo de su vida. El legado de ellos sigue vivo en la familia de Tom, un recordatorio constante del amor y la guía que ha dado forma a sus vidas. A Tom le sobreviven sus cuatro hermanos, Cinthia (Doug), Valeri, James y Cheryl.

 Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo el sábado 8 de Febrero en la morgue Aaron-Ruben-Nelson, 11411 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, a las 5 p.m. Los amigos son bienvenidos a visitar desde las 2 p.m. hasta la hora del servicio.

 Al recordar a Thomas Lloyd Roberts, celebramos a un hombre cuyo impacto deja una marca permanente en sus conocidos. Su legado sigue vivo en los corazones de quienes lo conocieron, recordándonos que incluso en medio de la pérdida, los lazos de amor perduran y florecen. Su espíritu será para siempre un faro de luz en nuestras vidas.
