Tonya Lynn Burton

Tonya Lynn Burton left this world peacefully at her home on Friday, August 18, 2017. She was surrounded by great love. Tonya lived gracefully with cancer for seven years. Her valiant spirit and will to live and to create were ever present. Tonya was in remission for 4.5 years and pursued a Master of Fine Arts through UCR Palm Desert for Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts. Her courage, determination and positive attitude were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Tonya was born in Winchester, Indiana, on March 12, 1947. She is survived by Anelena Ackerly, her dear friend of forty-seven years. Her mother, Joanna, and sister, Rita, predeceased her. Tonya will be remembered for her creative mind and gifted writing, for her innate healing abilities, and, most of all, for her kind, gentle, and loving spirit.

Cremation has taken place at A.R.N. Mortuary and Cremation Services, 11411 N. Michigan Road in Zionsville, and a memorial service will be privately held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be sent to Miles 4 Myeloma C/O IU Foundation, P.O. Box 7072, Indianapolis, IN 46207.
