Violet May Nightlinger
passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Violet was born in Gary, IN on May 4, 1925 to Andrew and Ruth Tarchala.
She married Orville Virgil Nightlinger on May 30, 1952.
Violet worked for many years in the credit department at Goldblatt's Department Store in Hammond, IN. She loved to work in her flower beds and in later years, camp with her husband; she loved her family above all else.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband; and eldest daughter, Arlene Petho. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Shipley; grandsons, Neal Shipley, Alex Petho Jr, Steven (Pam) Petho, and Joey Allen (Cheryl) Petho; great-grandchildren, Mindie Petho, Brandon Petho, Cassandra Petho, Kyle Petho, Meagan Petho and Skylar Petho; and great-great-grandchildren, Caden Brodzinski and Adrian Ashton Ellis.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, July 2 from 4:30 - 7 pm at A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services, 11411 North Michigan Rd, Zionsville. Burial will be Tuesday, July 3rd at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice or to Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org)
