William Russell Miller

October 21, 1927 — November 25, 2022

William Russell Miller, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away November 25, 2022, in his home, surrounded by family. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Irma and Russel Thomas Miller on October 21, 1927. His family moved to Indianapolis in 1929 where his father started the company Curry- Miller Veneers. A company manufacturing hardwood veneer on the near eastside of Indianapolis, which is still operating today as Miller Veneers.

He attended John Strange Elementary School and Shortridge High School. Shortly after graduation he join the Navy to serve in W W II. He was training to serve on the newly commissioned aircraft carrier, the “U.S.S. Philippine Sea” when the war ended.

After his military service he attended Indiana University where he met his wife of 47 years, Patricia Arn. He served as President of Curry-Miller Veneers for nearly 40 years.

Surviving are his children, Kristin (Daniel), Sally (Bob), Thomas (Jill), and Benjamin (Mary) ; grandchildren, Michael, Sattva, Sarah, Spring, Hattie, True, Samuel, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren Sophie, Jaxon and Ruhi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, grandson, Zuben, and special friend, Marge O’Laughlin.

He was a tremendous father for his children, providing the love and dedication to his family that we all should aspire to. He was very content living out his years in the home he helped design and build in 2000.

He enjoyed gardening, collecting and caring for his dog Pip.

Funeral services will be private.
