Wilma Edith Swingle

December 30, 1915 — July 14, 2012

Wilma Edith (Buchholtz) Swingle was called to her Heavenly Home and into the loving embrace of her Heavenly Father on July 24, 2012. She was 96 and a resident of Westminister Village North, Indianapolis, IN.

Born in Roseville, OH, she was known by family and friends as a devoted Lutheran, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a kind soul who instinctively looked for the best in people and life.

After graduating from Capital University in Bexley, OH, she taught elementary children in several districts throughout Ohio during a lengthy career as a teacher. She loved children and helped them find success due as much to her positive, caring persona as to the pioneering educational strategies she employed in her classrooms. She directed children's choirs in many of the churches where she was a member.

Mrs. Swingle is predeceased by her parents, the Rev.William and Fern Buchholtz, her husband, the Rev. H. Jacob Swingle, whom she loved dearly, as well as her siblings the Rev. Luther Buchholtz, the Rev. Paul Buchholtz, the Rev. John Buchholtz, Miriam (Buchholtz) Rice, Fern (Buchholtz) Smith, and Grace (Buchholtz) Brown.

She is survived by her sister, Mary E. (Buchholtz) Foster; children, Mr. Terrance (Kathleen) Swingle, Mr. Peter (Linda) Swingle, and Mrs. Marilyn (Michael) Price; grandchildren, Mrs. Leann (Roger) Swingle-Spears, Matthew (Jennifer) Swingle, and Mrs. Sarah (Jason) Stubblefield, Logan and Grayson Swingle, Andrew , Stephanie, and Gregory Price; great grandchildren, Maverick and Sierra Spears, Jacob, Cordelia, and Calista Stubblefield; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and loving friends.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Village North's social hall on Saturday, August 4th at 2pm. A private burial is planned in Columbus, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may kindly be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 104 N. Main, Roseville, OH. 43777.
